Serenity Studio Designs

Welcome to Serenity Studio

My name is Jane and I am the artist who created Serenity Studio.

In 2003 I saw a program on television called, “He Shed, She Shed”.

The premise was that 2 designers would each design sheds for people of the opposite sex; a woman designer would makeover or design a shed for a man and a male designer would do the same for a woman. Many of the male sheds were designed as “Man Caves” or outdoor bars but the women’s sheds were designed for so many purposes… a quiet place to get away, a reading spot, a place just to escape. As soon as I saw this show, I knew that someday I wanted to have my own “She Shed”.

Well, 19 years later I finally have my She Shed – Serenity Studio. My husband and I lived in the same gated community for 20 years before deciding we wanted to leave the confines and rules of the HOA and live on a larger property without the rules. As soon as we made that decision and my husband began planning for his much larger building to house his boat, gear and provide his “Man Cave” space I started planning for my “She Shed”.

What would I use my She Shed for? That was easy – Art and Crafting! Since I was a young child, I was always creating things with paper, paint, whatever I could use to create something artistic. When I got to high school, I focused as much as I could on art classes. In college, I majored in Graphic Design. Then, life took a turn. I ended up married and having my daughter before an artistic career took off and I accepted jobs that would pay the bills.

Fast forward 25 years… I was invited to a local “Paint ‘n Sip” studio for an afternoon of painting. Something I hadn’t done in many years. As soon as I sat down in front of the canvas and picked up a brush, I felt a peace that I hadn’t felt since the last time I was in an art studio. For those 2 hours of painting, I forgot about all of my other responsibilities outside of that room. It was blissful. It was Serenity!

From that day I began purchasing canvases and paints and brushes and started painting again. Since then, rarely has more than a few weeks passed that I’m not creating something. I’ve dabbled in jewelry design, working with resin, chalk art, using ink on textiles…

In September 2022, Serenity Studio was born and loaded with all of my supplies, and I couldn’t be happier having that “Happy Place” in my back yard to escape and play and create.

I ask you to join me as I escape my “day to day” and design and craft and paint and explore other mediums that are fun to create with.

Crafting is my THERAPY!
